ADMINISTRATION


 

Acting head of the Condensed Matter Theory Group, (Fysik IV), Department of Physics, Uppsala University since March 15, 2000.
 

Since 2000 I am the research leader and principal investigator of a larger materials consortium, FRAM - fundamental research and applications of magnetism, that involves both theory and experiment (at UU and KTH) and will run over the next 5 years with the possibility to continue for 5 more years. Current funding for this year is 23 MSEK and will involve some 20 researchers.
 

During the spring of 2000 I organized and was responsible for the move of the Condensed Matter Theory group, Uppsala University (approx. 40 persons) of the Physics Department to the new Å ngström laboratory. This major effort involved planing in detail the offices of each researcher, the planning and negotiation for sufficient office space for the whole research group, the planning for the facilities around the computer room holding the computer cluster etc.
 

Head of a committee for evaluating and organizing aspects of the move of the faculties computer resources from 'kvarteret kemikum-fysikum' to the new laboratories at the Å ngström laboratory.
 

I am currently administrating several Swedish research grants, 2 from NFR, 1 from the Göran Gustafsson foundation, 1 from 'Kungliga vetenskapsakademin' and one from TFR. One of these grants is a joint experimental - theoretical project for phase stability, structural phase transitions and magnetism of materials which I work on together with Per Norblad, Institute of Technology, Uppsala University and with Yvonne Andersson, Institute of Chemistry, Uppsala University.
 

I am currently administrating a larger grant of 1.8 MSEK for upgrading the computer cluster at the Physics Department.
 

Between 1994 and 1996 I was a suppliant of the board of the Department of Physics.
 

Between 1996 and 2000 I was a member of the board of the Department of Physics.
 

During my stay in Los Alamos 1996-1997, 7 of the PhD students at the Department of Physics, Uppsala University were in different periods stationed with me in Los Alamos.
 

Together with Peter James and Per Andersson I organized the conference Journees des Actinides, May 14-16 98. The budget of this conference was ~ 300.000 SEK.
 

In connection with dissertations in the condensed matter theory group I have organized several mini-symposia.
 

During the fiscal year 1997/1998 I have been on a committee which appointed the new Prefect of the Department of Physics.
 

During the period 1998-2000 I lead a committee at Fysikum organizing the move of the Department of Physics to the Ångström II Laboratory in Uppsala.
 

Since 1998 I am a member of the steering committee for the ESF f-electron initiative.
 

I was a member of the organizing committee for Psik-2000 conference in Swabish-Gmund 22-26 August 2000.
 

I was a member of the organizing committee for the conference in Sagamore, 2000. (Poland).
 

Since 1998 I am a member of the struc-PSIK steering committee.
 

Together with Lars Nordström and Jürgen Henk I organized the work shop, 'Interface anisotropy, spin and orbital moments', held in Riksgränsen 5-9 May, 1999.
 

1999 I was elected to become an 'Elektor' at our faculty.
 

Together with Gabriella Andersson and Peter Svedlindh I organized the first FRAM scientific meeting, held in Uppsala 17-18 January 2001.
